We visited the Douaumont Ossuary, Fort Douaumont, communication trenches, trenches in the S.t. She was gentle and kind and made sure we stayed safe during the entire day and even ensured that my husband was able to see the places that were most important to him. She is an extremely knowledgable historian who has a passion for her career and for honoring history. Ingrid was an exceptional host and we adored our time with her. It was a bucket list experience for my husband to see first hand the 100 year old trenches and to explore around this part of he world. A true historical site and with over ten years of experience, we will do anything in our power to make your stay as pleasant as possible.In November 2019, my husband and I (28 and 30 years old) had the pleasure of traveling around East France near Verdun to tour the places where many WWI battles took place. With only two (Varennes and Romagne) other hotels in the area, many American dignitaries and generals must have spend a night in our hotel. Because of Maarten’s passion for history and Didi’s love for cooking, we made the decission to make our hobbies our jobs. Our little hotel was built in 1921 for the sole purpose of battlefield tourism, which really took off with the construction of the American Memorial (1933-1937) in the ancient town centre of Montfaucon d’Argonne. About usīorn and raised in the Netherlands, we emigrated to France in 2008. You can also hire Maarten as your battlefield guide for daytours or a mornings walk in Montfaucon d'Argonne. The liberation of this region by the Americans in September 1918 will be celebrated extensively.

Historical places like Vauqois, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon and the Argonne Forest are just a stone's throw away, while larger historical cities like Verdun, Reims, Metz and Luxembourg are also easy to reach. Montfaucon d'Argonne is less than a 4 hour drive from Calais, about a 3 hour drive from the Somme and 1,5 hours from Reims, capital of the Champagne. We are located in the centre of the wonderfull rolling landscape of the Meuse Valley.
